There is a past life connection to virtually every  person (soul) we have ever known well. Family members, lovers , friends and foes are linked through intricately planned, interwoven, benevolent alliances over multiple lifetimes. Seemingly hostile or opositional relationships serve an equally important role in our evolution and are an integral component of our lifes' mission. The gods could actually assign someone to try to drive you crazy.

Past-life karma reactivates both good and bad prior life experiences through the cosmic system of "Payback" designed to penalize unjust actions and reward good ones based on how we pursue our desires. The worst trauma that ever happened to us was meticulously planned out and executed by the gods. It was meant to dramatically alter our consciousness by enmeshing  us in a completely unfair situation, often with souls that we're destined to complete unfinished business with. If we choose wisely in response to our spiritual challenges, it serves as a blessing in disguise by advancing us at the soul level.

Past Life Karma

We don't bring conscious awareness of our divine obligations with us into this lifetime.  As the soul develops, the blindfold slowly recedes  and we become more aware through our major challenges that our task is to figure out why we're here, what we're meant to do with our life as a whole, not just career, and work with the unknown as it unfolds. Our assignments become more apparent as our eyes open wider through upset and hurt.

If we are the victim of a wild injustice, then one of our many lessons is probably forgiveness, which is not an easy task. Something as small as a personal quarrel over an insult, or as severe as the total upheaval that human trafficking inflicts on it's victims, puts us on the eternal path to forgiveness.

What You Do in The Dark is Gonna Come to the Light

Once we accept that our crisis  is part of an evolutionary process, and not our fault or anyone else's, we can rise above feelings of  guilt, loss, or victimhood. The distressing circumstances and the resulting damage were part of  our predestination from day one. However, our reactions are not predetermined and play a powerful role in how our destiny plays out and whether or not we fulfill our karmic obligations in this lifetime or if they carry over to the next. It's a 50/50 proposition, the outline of your lifes' circumstances is prescribed, but you are held responsible for your own behavior. There is a realistic prospect for all that the game of life will go to overtime into the next life.

Favorable events occur by the force of the same karmic law; we can truly enjoy what we deserve to have in this life because our positive actions (karma) and choices in past lives have enabled our creation of enjoyable rewards in this one.

The gods definitely take care of  those who do good for others but "you've got to take the good with the bad" because the bad is actually good for your spiritual growth in the long run. Adversity, handled skillfully, makes us a wiser soul on our evolutionary pathway.

The  breakthrough understanding of Past-Life Karma is that the root of our misfortune (trauma) is found in lessons we agree to pursue before we incarnate. Our mission is to work with those teachings in ways that advance the soul. Knowing that our many lives are planned before we arrive and that we  have an agreement with the universe to follow through with our soul development liberates us from the erroneous belief that we are solely responsible for manifesting our destiny or that we don't have a purpose in life. We are not the captains of our ships, but co-pilots with the universe. Hardship and trauma, however harsh , are part of our destiny. How we cultivate and use the power of choice is crucial to mastering our spiritual lessons.

If our lives are in financial ruin then the teaching might be generosity, ethics, or right livelihood, among others. It could be that we lived a past life of lavish abundance and we must learn to survive in a way that doesn't even slightly compromise our integrity.

If our relationships are in turmoil we might have an agreement to work out the karma of  jealousy, loneliness, or trust, over more than one lifetime, which might involve trading places and roles to better serve each others spiritual development. It's not uncommon to fall in love with and marry a parent from a past life.

If we lose a loved one unexpectedly, perhaps it's best that we carry forward in a useful way what that person stood for, both good and bad, and honor their soul by integrating that into our actions. Expressing ones true feelings in the here and now helps avoid the deep regret that can accompany sudden loss and creates a smooth balance of karma.

The cultivation of moral and ethical qualities and  demonstration of faith in a higher power are the intended spiritual (soul) outcomes from our personal suffering. As our journey evolves, emotional  and physical  hardships take on a deeper meaning as we are given endless opportunities to see how others seem to have it worse.  Pain is the Dean of Students at The Earth Academy.
